Mentorship Award

The Ezra Schwartz mentorship award
established at Maimonides in honor of Ezra.

The Ezra Schwartz Mentorship and Team Building Award goes to the Junior or Senior who, like Ezra, exemplified dedication to mentoring underclassman and to building team unity. It honors the kind of athlete that Maimonides is proud to have: One who goes out of his or her way to make new players feel welcome, who helps struggling players improve, who fights the common urge to practice with the stronger athletes or to be critical of those players who are younger or less able and who instead, seeks out and supports those who need the most help or who feel the least included. The award recognizes athletes who put the interests of their team and their teammates before their own.
